Hi, I feel that the M18 slip road at junction 3 is very dangerous and I'd like to report this for it to be reviewed. During rush-hour traffic is very often queueing on the m18 slip to leave the m18 at junction 3. The traffic on the slip road is often stationery or very slow moving at best. The queue often goes all the way back to the a1 slip road where the a1 joins the m18. For traffic trying to get off the m18 and onto the exit slip here it's very dangerous. As this means that drivers travelling at 60mph plus have to slow down to almost 0mph to join the stationery traffic in an attempt to force their way into a (often non existent) gap. Meanwhile, traffic not leaving here continues at speed on the m18, right behind drivers who are trying to slow down to a dangerously low speed in an attempt to force their way onto the exit slip. I witness several near misses on a daily basis and I feel this needs looking into and reviewing before a serious incident happens. The layout of this road used to be different. And there was a dedicated slip road for traffic leaving at junction 2 to allow them to merge safely off the m18 (as well as the slip road joining the a1 to the m18) without having to slow right down to a dangerous low speed in a live fast lane. But since this was changed (around 2-3 years ago I'd say this was) it has become increasingly dangerous. Thanks, Lewis

Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the M18 J3.
We understand your concerns regarding this location. The roundabout is under the remit of Doncaster council and the motorway slip roads are under our remit so any works required have to be agreed and with no negative affects to either network. We have jointly been looking at this location and a study of this area has been carried out to identify any possible improvements, which I am pleased to advise has now been completed. One of the recommended outcomes of the study was to signalise the southbound exit slip road and adjacent section of circulatory carriageway, and to widen the overbridges to three lanes. With signing and lining improvements where required also. This should increase capacity at the junction and regulate the flow off the M18 j3 to reduce queuing.
The proposal is now with Doncaster Council to complete the design and construct. As such you would need to contact Doncaster Council Highways for any further progress updates on 01302 736000 as it is in their hands. We will also contact them to see if there is an update on your behalf. Contact details for local authorities can be found by using the search facility at: www.gov.uk/find-your-local-council.
Thank you,
National Highway
