The road markings indicating the lane to be used for the A1023 towards Brentwood is poorly marked and results in potential for collision. The junction has 3 lanes, the inner 2 are for traffic to go to the A12 towards Chelmsford and the third lane is for the A1023 and southbound M25. Traffic is inncorrectly using lane 2 to go to the A1023 resulting in potential for collisions and conflict. There needs to be much clearer guidance as to the correct lane to use.

Updates

  • This is still an issue and is causing chaos at this junction with extremely poor lane discipline. I have seen several near misses and experienced abuse from those using the incorrect lane to go to Brentwood.

If anything, the road markings are now in a worse condition and difficult to see.
