No Road Markings on Roundabout

Dear Sir/Madam

I live at 12 Box Road,Bath,BA17QD which is situated overlooking the Roundabout at the end of the Batheaston Dual-Carriageway at Bathford. There are numerous accidents at the Roundabout, probably at least 3 or 4 a month and many near misses.(many are not reported to the Police). As a retired Police Officer I have assisted on several occasions when an accident has occured,I use a flourescent jacket and traffic cones to put out when required,I have also given first aid awaiting an Ambulance. The Roundabout serves four main roads,A4 to Chippenham,A363 to Bradford-On-Avon,A46 to Motorway and local traffic to Batheaston. The Roundabout is covered by a 30 mph limit, but traffic approaches at faster speeds especially approaching from the Dual-Carriageway.There are no" road markings"whatsoever on the roundabout where they have worn away.Give Way markings(dash lines)should be on each lane entering the Roundabout. The lack of road markings is one of the major causes of accident,as there are no road markings approaching traffic do not know where to stop if required to Give Way to traffic on the Roundabout. I beleive a Lane marking should be made on the Roundabout(see map attached)to separate two lanes of traffic leaving the Dual-Carriageway.Traffic travelling in the nearside lane ..going towards Chippenham cuts a staight line across the Roundabout and impedes traffic leaving the Dual-Carriageway in the offside lane turning right. Both lanes of traffic can be leaving the Dual -Carriageway at speed which enhances the risk of an accident. I believe I have a responsibility to report this before a serious or fatal accident occurs.

Yours Faithfully
