Poor road surface

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3209738.

The road surface on the driving lane between Clevedon Junction 20 Northbound to Juntion 19 Portbury, is in a poor state. Numerous temporary attempts to improve this section have been made, but the road surface for approx. 2 miles is very poor. Many bumps and divets. This has been like this for over a year and I use this stretch of the motorway daily. At times if safe to do so, I drive in the second lane. Please can something be done about this.

  • Thank you for your report concerning the condition of lane 1 of the M5 between junctions 20 and 19.

    We’re aware of the issues with the road surface and are looking into resurfacing works. In the meantime, our inspection team will continue to monitor the surface and arrange any repairs as necessary.
