Litter

Reported via mobile in the Litter (NH) category anonymously at 14:24, Sun 26 December 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3199101.

Lots of litter on side of slip road from M3 junction 3 to roundabout with A322.

Updates

  • I’ve spoken to our Route Inspector to confirm that we monitor our network for litter on our weekly safety inspections. Litter is then graded and given a timescale for clearance. Grade A: No litter or refuse Grade B: Predominately free of litter and refuse apart from some small items Grade C: Widespread distribution of litter and/or refuse with minor accumulations (Cleared within 28 days) Grade D: Heavily affected by litter and/or refuse with significant accumulations (Cleared within 7 days)

The grades are set out by the DEFRA (Department for Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs) and the Environmental Protection Act. I’ve attached our litter strategy should you wish to read further about this. It also shows roads for which litter is our responsibility.
