Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about lighting on the A14. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

I have been in contact with our lighting team who advise that the lighting you refer to uses the older, sodium lanterns which are now obsolete. We can no longer maintain or replace the lanterns as they reach the end of their serviceable life.

We are carrying out a review of the lighting outputs to identify a suitable LED lantern that can be retrofitted to the existing columns at this location along with some additional structural and electrical testing to ensure that the columns are suitable. We aim to complete the review during January.

Work packages will then be programmed to follow and will most likely take place in phases as some of the columns will need full road closures to safely access.

Thank you again for contacting us. If you need more information about this, please feel free to contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 500 or by email at info@highwaysengland.co.uk.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
