Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the diversion route on the A428 at Eltisley.
I appreciate you taking the time to contact us with your concerns about the increased use of the A428 Eltisley junction whilst the work is carried out. A diversion is in place whilst Cambridgeshire County Council carry out work to install a cycleway on the A1198 between Papworth and Caxton Gibbet.
We have been working closely with Cambridgeshire County Council to monitor the diversion route and the impacts on the A428 / B1040 St Ives Road junction. Following our own monitoring and in response to concerns raised, we have collectively agreed to implement changes to Cambridgeshire’s previous road closure and diversion route, which took effect from Thursday 11 November.
The diversion route is now as follows:
O The A1198 is now open northbound between the A428 Caxton Gibbet roundabout and Papworth. o The A1198 is now closed southbound between Papworth and the A428 Caxton Gibbet roundabout. o The A1198 southbound traffic is now diverted along B1040 St Ives Road to the A428. o The junction of the B1040 and A428 is temporarily closed for southbound traffic turning right onto the A428 westbound. o All southbound traffic on the B1040 must now turn left only at the junction with the A428, to join the A428 eastbound. Traffic wanting to travel westbound on the A428 must travel eastbound on the A428 to Caxton Gibbet Roundabout and then turn around and return westbound.
I assure you we continue to monitor the situation and work with Cambridgeshire County Council to review as works progress. If you require any further information about the work being carried out, you can contact Cambridgeshire County Council by telephone on 0345 045 5212 or via their website at https://cambridgeshire-self.achieveservice.com/ service/ Make_an_enquiry.
