Faulty Speed Camera

Reported via mobile in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 17:25, Wed 8 December 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3168056.

I travelled to work early on the morning of 7-12-21 & 8-12-21. I use this route as its the safest way to work. I'm a safe driver and always keep to the speed limits. On these two mornings, I drove under the national speed limit and the speed camera was triggered between Jct 5 & Jct 7 coastbound

  • Sorry Junction 6 of the m20

Posted anonymously at 17:34, Wed 8 December 2021

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways, regarding faulty speed camera at junction 6 on the M20.

The cameras are Highways Agency Digital Enforcement Camera System, cameras that detect speed across all four lanes, if the flash came from the far near side of the gantry then it was the camera system, but likely not detecting your vehicle but other motorists in the other lanes. If it flashed anywhere else then it wasn’t the enforcement cameras.

Any Notice of Intended Prosecution resulting from a camera offence must be received by the motorist within 14 days of the offence, if your vehicle was the one detected.

We've raised this concern regarding faulty speed camera's with our inspector, who will review this location as part of their next safety check and will raise works for mitigations if required.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
