Severe bumps (ridges) running across both carriageways, which are very dangerous and likely to cause an accident

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 12:02, Thu 18 November 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3130789.

These ridges are on the A2 (coastbound direction) and start at marker post 96.7 and run for about 2 miles, this has been reported before, but nothing has been actioned, I would hate there to be a fatal accident due to lack of action on Highways Englands' part. Can I ask that as a matter of urgency this stretch of road is repaired? I will follow this up if no action so that the matter can be escalated.

Many thanks Rob Saunderson

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning the condition of the carriageway.

Our local safety inspector reviewed this location during his safety inspection last week and advised that we’re currently aware of issue and is currently being monitored by our safety team since August 2021. At this stage the location is not considered to be a safety defect.

We have in our forward programme a scheme which is currently under development and will involve full levelling and resurfacing between Nackington and Bridge, with anticipated construction in the next financial year 2022/2023.

In the meantime we monitor weekly during our safety inspections when any safety defect will be raised for urgent repair. Kind regards
