Lane closure causing unacceptable delays

It was mid afternoon on Saturday 30 October. I was heading east towards Dorchester on the A35. A short section of road was reduced to one lane under traffic light control. There was heavy traffic from the west as people returned after the half term holiday. There was a delay of 20-25 minutes. There was minimal traffic in the other direction and no delays. On our side only about 15 cars got through before the lights changed. No one was working on the road and the carriageways were intact. This was a totally unnecessary closure at an inconvenient time. Also even if closure of the road was necessary the phasing of the lights was completely wrong.
