Motoway speed limit reduced to 50mph without warning

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 17:16, Fri 29 October 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3092271.

29th October 9:45am traveling eastbound about 1-2 miles before jct 8 the speed limit signs have been reduced from 60mph to 50 mph without warning, just the red circle sign changing from 60mph to 50mph. Why was this done and why were their no other warnings signs to indicate the speed change. This was done just before the speed camera which went off. Why has this been done sneakily as it has been 60mph all the way to the roadworks after jct 8 and 9 for months and I am now concerned I am going to get a speeding ticket unjustifiably.
