Witnessed 5 near misses
Reported via mobile in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 10:37, Mon 25 October 2021
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3082631.
Approaching the roundabout from Ringwood direction, both lanes are to be used for A31 towards Wimborne. Left hand lane is for Ferndown. Clearer signage needed as I have witnessed too many people in the right hand lane going straight on towards Ferndown nearly colliding with traffic in the left hand lane taking the 2nd exit towards Wimborne on the A31. I would suggest clear 'GET IN LANE' signage needed as some people are ignoring/missing the road marking signage.

You will notice that this problem has been reported previously, as I too have observed many incidents identical to that which you have reported in the same location. Inexplicably, National Highways appear to not understand the problem, and have no plans to do anything until "the situation changes!" Unbelievable!

I witnessed my daughters car with my grandson in the back nearly get rear ended by a person in the wrong lane attempting to go straight on from the approaching right hand lane. This person honked their horn and hurled abuse at my daughter, believing my daughter was in the wrong! I reported this and similar incidents because I was shocked into it by witnessing my family having such a near miss. All it needs is clearer road making, with arrows informing drivers which lane goes where. I am amazed nothing is to be done. Maybe it will take a serious accident or fatality before something is done. I use this roundabout on a regular basis, but I do not live local. I am going to write the the local MP now as I feel so strongly about this. Highways should be ashamed of themselves for ignoring this issue!
