During a return trip from Manchester at 01:30, the gantries from Jct11A to J10 M6 SB were indicating congestion after the JCT11A junction, with a 60mph limit in force. The road was empty up to the start of the J10 roadwork 60mph zone. The speed limit then dropped to 40mph for no reason, with the national speed limit being given on the AMI’s prior to the J10 off-slip. This is still within the 60mph zone.
Customers and colleagues rely on correct speed indications and signing to ensure the public have confidence in the signal and hence comply.
Other areas across the network (M62-12-10), (M6 14-13) ect also had sporadic signalling with sections of 60mph appearing without reason, missing several gantries and re-appearing again resulting in a loss of confidence in the signals. If assets are faulty, text could indicate the end point at which the limit applies to. 60mph ‘J11-10’ ect.
