Issue with traffic lights

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 09:01, Friday 15 October 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

I am reporting a problem with the temporary lights at the roundabout where the A690 and A1(M) intersect.

Since the temporary lights have been installed it is causing tailbacks on the northbound exit from A1 at J62 at Carrville.

In the rush hour - especially in the mornings - this means there is a stationery queue going back down the slip road on to the motorway. This is dangerous as you are stationery in the path of fast traffic.

Please can someone review the phasing of the lights

It is the traffic lights (rush hour only) at the top of the north bound slip road off the A1 at Carrville (J62)

Updates

  • Customer was travelling at 8.15 am and the traffic lights were not working and after 5 pm each day w/c 1 November 2021.

The location of the lights are at the Junction 62 off the Am1 to the A690.

Nearest location is the Shell garage, High Street, Durham.

Because of the above, customer advises was nearly "run off" the road by a wagon (ASDA).

  • Thank you for your patience whilst we completed the repairs in relation to your report.

These traffic lights were in use as part of a scheme in the area which has now completed so therefore the lights should now be back to normal.
