Blockage of important (non-RoW) pedestrian path - vegetation overgrowth
Reported via desktop in the Vegetation (grass/hedges/trees) (NH) category anonymously at 19:34, Tue 12 October 2021
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3058760.
This (non-RoW) path that gives vital access to footpaths : 264/708 & 264/703 and links to the SW corner of the A3/A272 roundabout. This path was never designated as a RoW and responsibility for it's clearance rests with HighwaysEngland/NationalHighways. It is on the (slip-)road side of the fence. It is completely blocked now. I have never seen it in such a neglected state. It needs to be cleared URGENTLY. Thanks! Enabling Active travel is a priority issue. Reported by Graham Keep

Thank you for contacting National Highways about the overgrown vegetation on the path giving access to the SW corner of the A3/A272 roundabout.
We are aware of this and the vegetation has been logged for removal. We're unable to provide a better timescale at present, however please be assured the area will be continually monitored.
Kind regards
National Highways

I've got to say, I'm really surprised this has been cleared. Well done. Usually getting things done around Petersfield takes months, or it is never done at all, but I guess as this is National Highways, a bit more leverage is obtained. I expect you'll have less luck subsequent times, if you ask HCC, or worse still, EHDC (who I believe have only ever sorted one of my reports).
I'm guessing it was National Highways who cleared it as neither HCC nor EHDC will have got the automated mail FMS sent.
National Highways only get the first email with your query in it, but I'm guessing by elimination, it must be them. Usually they bounce you to HCC or EHDC if it's not them (even though it's easier for them to simply redirect it than to ask each and every person to do so), and the other two won't do it unless really forced to.
Marked as fixed for you.
