Incorrect road numbering on route signs

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 07:08, Fri 8 October 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3049141.

Original report and response. (22 September) Weston Mill Road is numbered on maps as A3064. Overhead information signs often refer to delays after A3064. However the signs on the A38 itself refer to the road as the B3396. A confusing situation for visiting drivers. Response - On the sign you saw the B3396 is in brackets meaning that the sign is directing you to the exit you need to get to the B3396 for Devonport. Update today - The response does not address the issue. Highways England driver information signs often refer to issues on A38 after junction with A3064 but nowhere on the A38 is the A3064 signed. The B3396 (in brackets) is on every sign. The solution would seem to be either to amend the signage to show the correct road designation or amend the driver information alerts to show that the problem is after the (B3396).

  • Thank you for raising this issue. We are actively seeking ways to improve the road side sign content at this site. We aim to have the westbound signs brought into line with its eastbound counterpart and that they both display that they are A38 exits for the A3064. This will, once achieved, give both extra information to the westbound road user and give additional context for the gantry sign messages that are referred to in the original enquiry. I am unable to to give a time scale for this work.
