Dangerous pathways due to narrowing pavement
Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath issue category anonymously at 21:59, Monday 27 September 2021
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later
This complaint was made earlier this year anc highways came to cut back the vegetation that had grown. This has not rectified the problem as the soil has fallen onto the pavement over time. This has created a wider bank and a narrow path. It’s so poor along the A40 from our house up to the nags cottages it’s very dangerous. Particular at it’s a 60 mph road with heavy lorries.
Pavement even narrower due to bank slipping on the pavement between Hopebrook(the annex) and the leighs house at various point.Diwn to less than a foot wide in places. This path is used a lot by people. No room for a pushchair etc.I am elderly and yesterday I slipped into the road narrowly missing oncoming lorries and cars.It will be worse in the coming weeks with ice or snow. Why is it 60mph from Dursley cross through Boxbush when you houses by the road and 50mph /40,30mph the rest of the A40

I am a runner who regularly uses the footpath on the A40 from by Hopebrook Farm and the turning to Longhope. The path is so narrow in places due to the bank slipping down onto the path all along this route that it is dangerous.I have to go into the road at times. Not ideal on a 60mph speed limit. You can’t pass other users without going into the road. Thus route is used regularly by people, trying to get to the bus stops or work etc
