M4 jct 20 to jct 19 speed camera

Reported via mobile in the Sign issue category anonymously at 08:47, Friday 24 September 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

I'm a hgv driver. I was passing the speed camera on M4 jct 20 to jct 19 twice and it flashed twice with no reason. First time there was no speed restriction sign above my head so National speed limit applies. I was doing 52.8 mph and the camera flashed. The second time there was 60mph speed restriction I was doing again 52.8 mph! and it flashed again! This is scandal! Please fix it asap. I hope I won't get a ticket for driving below the speed limit because otherwise I would have to sue the highways agency.

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways concerning speed cameras.

As part of the normal operation of the system it will occasionally take a test picture, which can cause the flash unit to fire, but this does not necessarily mean that an offence has been recorded.

However, we've passed your observations of the speed camera on the M4 to our maintenance contractor and asked them to check the camera for any issues.
