M20 Jct 5 coastbound

Reported via mobile in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 18:41, Mon 6 September 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2983639.

Gantries on the supposed smart motorway remain not clear. The first row of gantries will say 60, then next row 60, then next row will be blank and final will display national. Not a problem when it says 60. 10mph doesn't make much difference. Bigger issue when it says 40.

Did ring call centre and was told it was fine. Not sure why one set would be blank, either they work or not.

  • I use this stretch of road Monday to Friday and get to the issue part of road at about 7.40. The gantry that doesn't work the most is the one just before the traffic from Jct 5 merges onto the M20. This leads to some cars and lorries going 40mph and joining traffic having no speed restrictions.
