  • Thank you for your report about lane closures on the M6 between junctions 32 and 33. I’m sorry that your journey has been affected by our roadworks, I understand that this is frustrating, especially if you can’t see any active work in progress. Lane closures were in place for grass cutting, safety fencing and drainage works. We are required to cut grass twice a year between April and September. Visibility swathes and safety cuts are carried out to ensure the safety of road users and this will include centre reserve cuts and the first 2 metres of verge. The lane closures put in place for grass cutting are used for a number of other cyclic maintenance activities, some of which will be undertaken overnight. Unfortunately, due to the plant required to complete each activity and their differing rates of progress, not all activities can be carried out at the same time. This is why you will see traffic cones left in place after certain activities have been completed. We try to maximise the use of the closures in order to minimise the overall disruption caused and the traffic management is removed as soon as is possible.
