There is a section approx 50 metres of collapsed wooden post and rail fence which also has wire stock fencing attached to it. Should it collapse further New Forest ponies and cattle could access westbound carriageway of A31. The section is approx 800 metres west of underpass where Bolderwood Road goes under A 31. Easiest access is through wooden vehicle barrier and path from Forestry England car park at Bratley View. I have photo of damage if required. Map ref of damaged section is SU234096. W3W location is at approx: fuss.overlaid.landed . Happy for you to contact me if required

  • This fence has NOT been temporarily repaired satisfactorily. The fence is on the ground. New Forest ponies, cattle and pigs, which have the RIGHT to be on the land adjacent to the road could get onto the highway. There has been a death on this road previously, as a result of a pony getting onto the highway. This could easily be repeated if the fence is not replaced NOW! Sorry to be blunt. Sue Westwood, Clerk to the New Forest Verderers. Ring 07831 518412
