A46 West Bound Approach to A46/A435 Roundabout Alcester
There was no signing about the A422 being closed at Upton Snodsbury or that the Diversion route was via A46 and A44.
The A46/A435 roundabout would probably have been the the primary place to tell West Bound Road Users about the closure and diversion route.

Extract from Chapter 8 Traffic Signs Manual Part1
D3.15.3 Any diversion introduces new traffic movements, so that confusion and hazards may result. Diversions should therefore be planned with the Highway Authority taking account of the suitability of the diversionary route for the expected traffic flows, comprehensive directional signing (see Figure 3.3), priority at junctions, the presence of railway level crossings and low bridges and the effect of diverted traffic on the environment. © Queen’s Printer and Controller of HMSO 2009
