Accumulation of litter

Reported via desktop in the Litter (NH) category anonymously at 12:29, Fri 13 August 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2933401.

Since moving to Marsden, we regularly travel via this junction. The litter on the north bound slip road has amassed over that time with no evidence of any clearing. It is both an eyesore and a health hazard. Hardly enhancing the impression created by the area it is little surprise that visitors from abroad think the British are dirty! Not the only overdue clearance required in this vicinity!

Updates

  • We share your concern that litter on our roads is unsightly and a risk to the environment. It also puts our workers at risk and diverts time and money that could be better spent on improving the network. Despite our best efforts to clear it, our network quickly becomes littered with rubbish from vehicles and unsecured loads. If people didn't drop litter in the first place, we wouldn't need to pick it up. We have a litter pick planned at this location which is expected to be completed by 15 Sept. We're sure you'll soon notice an improvement.

    Kind regards Highways England
