Traffic lights out at top of northbound slip road

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 14:39, Tue 10 August 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

It has been some considerable time now, at least 4 weeks, since the traffic lights at the top of the slip road at J11/M6 roundabout have been out of action. I am sure that I cannot be the only person to have complained about this as it is causing absolute chaos at the island and long queues to exit the motorway. The queues down the bottom of the slip road are dangerous! Yesterday, I was at the bottom of the slip road in the queue which tailed back onto the inside lane, a car almost ploughed into the back of me!

I appreciate we are in difficult times, but I think that the lights at J11 should be prioritised before it causes a major incident.

I would be interested to know the reason why they are not working and why they have been non operational for so long and more important, when they will be fixed before someone gets killed!

  • Thank you for your patience whilst we looked into your report. The traffic signal controller cabinet was subject to a road traffic collision following a police chase a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the incident we had to switch the lights off. We have installed temporary traffic lights in the area to help with traffic flows whilst we programme in the full repairs to the traffic lights.
