Updates

  • Thank you for contacting Highways England. I appreciate you taking the time to report this.

We carry out regular inspections of all our roads and cut back the vegetation where we find that it is limiting visibility of road signs, traffic signals or the view ahead. Ringway have started cuts working along the A47 and will continue to September. Our 2m swathe is a safety cut to allow safe pedestrian refuge in the case of an emergency stop and to ensure grass does not encroach into the carriageway. We try to preserve as much nature grassland as possible for wildlife which rely on the grass as a corridor for travel and pollination. Where necessary we cut back further. This includes sign and junction visibility to achieve the desired sight lines for safety.

Should this area not have been cut after the end of September please report again.

    Kind regards

    Highways England
