2 lanes down to 1 because of overgrown vegetation

Reported via desktop in the Vegetation (grass/hedges/trees) (NH) category anonymously at 14:07, Thu 5 August 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2916593.

The trees and bushes are coming into the road so much so that 2 lanes are now down to 1. I travel down this slip road daily on my way to work and countless times now I have seen people accelerate heavily to get passed another vehicle and all of a sudden people merge where the vegetation pushes the lanes together. It is just a matter of time before there is a serious accident. I reported this back at the beginning of the year and you said nothing can be done at that time because of nesting birds, a lot of time has now passed with that much more growth and increasing danger to road users.

  • Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for contacting us via Fix My Street regarding the overgrown vegetation on the A12.

I appreciate you taking the time to report this. I have passed your observations onto the relevant team who have confirmed it is in the forward programme to be cut.

It is still nesting season until 1 September, therefore the work will be completed after this date to avoid disturbing any potential nesting birds within the vegetation.

Thank you again for contacting us, I hope you find my response helpful.

    Kind regards

    Highways England
