Old roadworks signs

Reported via mobile in the Roadworks category anonymously at 13:32, Tuesday 27 July 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

After leaving M1 south at J7/8 to travel down to Radlett there are signs for roadworks and a speed limit of 50mph. These have been here for at least 6 or 7 years and nothing is being done. I travel up north and back again at least once a month and have done so for the last 21 years. I can't remember when I last saw any roadworks. No-one takes any notice of the speed limits because they know they are just signs which have not been removed. I worry that if these abandoned signs make drivers ignore them here they might do the same at other sites where the signs are important. Please arrange all this roadwork items to be removed. Thank you.

Updates

We are aware of the old roadworks signs you have mentioned. The speed limit is up for the temporary safety barrier on the A414 Eastbound which is protecting an overhead bridge – the barrier is there as we have identified a headroom issue on the hard shoulder.
