Problematic A303 junction at 26
Reported via desktop in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 13:23, Tue 20 July 2021
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2877614.
26 has always been the entrance for the eastbound A303, and although not always an easy access it has not been problematic. This has changed since the opening of Teals, a farmshop outlet less than 100 yds from the junction. I have had two experiences of vehicles leaving Teals trying to undertake me onto the A303, the second time a few feet from a collision. Is it possible that the signage on leaving Teals is not adequate?

Thank you for contacting Highways England.
Our Road Safety Team has reviewed this issue recently and doesn’t feel it is a safety concern at this time.
The junction with the A303 eastbound carriageway is marked according to the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. A Give Way system is provided for traffic joining the A303 eastbound from Parish Hill and Teals Orchard. This system includes the broken white Give Way line, a Give Way triangular road marking, and a triangular Give Way sign. Additionally, there are supplementary signs advising approaching traffic that they are about to enter a dual carriageway. These are mounted on the nearside Give Way assembly and opposite the junction within the central reservation.
Within the last 10 years of data for road traffic collisions resulting injury, there has been one reported collision that resulted in minor injuries. This does not indicate an issue that requires intervention.
We will continue to review this and will arrange any required work if the situation changes.
