Incorrect traffic light sequencing

Reported via mobile in the Roadworks (NH) category anonymously at 18:13, Wed 14 July 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2865201.

The temporary traffic lights controlling traffic flow through the A27 roadworks adjacent to Drusillas Park are causing a ridiculously long queue Eastbound, with so much of a shorter Westbound queue. We joined the queue at the A26 roundabout. The ludicrous settings applied to the Drusillas A27 lights have resulted in that short stretch of journey lasting 58 minutes. That is so wasteful and environmentally harmful. Please revisit those light settings/ timings. Thank you,

Updates

  • Thanks for taking the time to contact Highways England about the traffic lights at Berwick. We've passed your feedback on to VolkerFitzpatrick who are working in partnership with Highways England to deliver the A27 East of Lewes Improvement Scheme. The traffic management team continue to review traffic light phasing and make adjustments when appropriate.

The A27 East of Lewes Improvement Scheme aims to improve traffic flow through a number of junctions between Lewes and Polegate. We’re doubling the size of Drusillas roundabout and increasing the number of lanes at Polegate junction and the bypass up to the Cophall roundabout. These improvements will make the roads safer for all customers and make journey times more reliable. We’re sending out a regular newsletter to customers with updates on road closures and progress. Please let us know if you’d like to be added to the distribution list by emailing A27eastoflewes@highwaysengland.co.uk or by calling our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000. Thanks again for taking the time to contact Highways England.
