Litter is not collected before the grass it cut.

All along the A52, I have witnessed in recent weeks that, the team who gang mows this does not collect litter sufficiently enough prior to mowing. The result is thousands of cut up pieces of litter left all over the place. A litter pick before is vital as it also ensures that no debris, dangerous material, glass, animal waste, etc, will be mown over causing damage to vehicles and spreading diseases for people.
All places with such grass areas which need to be mown for visibiltiy issues would be much better maintaned under a cut and collect system. This removes the fertility which means the grass grows slower and with more biodiversity value.
This system has already saved Dorset County Council £450,000 since it was started. Highways England can do this as I have seen it done in other parts of the country.

Thank you for your patience whilst we completed the repairs in relation to your report. We can confirm that the grass was cut on 6 July. The local authority are responsible for the litter picking and we did notify then that the grass cutting was being done on that date. They are invited to carry out the work alongside out traffic management, but they don't always take up the opportunity. Highways England, which part of England does this apply to? Every road needs to be litter picked before any grass cutting is carried out. If not, one can cuts up into half a dozen pieces of sharp metal. As goes for plastic and glass bottles. Not to mention other rubbish that gets cut up and looks very unsightly. Is this nothing to do with the Wildlife Act?
