Large pothole just after slip road for a19 on a66 north East bound

Damage to my mini clubman suspension due to large pothole on the a66 heading towards Middlesbrough just after Teesside Park, Unknown how long pothole has been there but it felt very large and deep. I have included a screenshot shot from Google maps of it forming in the earlier part of the year and is now a large pothole which is made a lot worse when speed taken into the account.

Caused considerable damage to the suspension on my mini clubman.

Snapped spring, which caused everything to slump onto the wheel, almost burning through my nearly new tyre as I exited to a safe area. Wheel rim may also be damaged but won't know until I have to run about getting a new tyre.

I have a lot more photos, this could have been a very different outcome, I was lucky.

I obviously can't stop on the dual carriageway to take a photo of the pothole for safety reasons.

Cost will be considerable for parts and labour to make road worthy again. If it can't get it repaired before Wednesday, that's my 2 night's in York possibly ruined this Thursday and Friday 8th and 9th July due to UK's badly maintained road structure.

Also having to use up half a day's holiday from work to make time for the repair.

Roads are an utter disgrace considering the amount of revenue that is generated from the million's of vehicles that use the roads each and every year.

Look forward to a speedy reply with outcome very soon.

Not at all happy.

Thank you.

  • Will this be fixed? This pothole is very dangerous now and there is no sign

  • Nearly 2 years later and still no correspondence as to who maintains this section of road and I'm still £'s out of pocket.

I did notice that it got repaired very soon after my initial report, thus meaning they're openly admitting they are at fault and a complete failure in the upkeep of the roads.

It's now just as bad appx 18 months later.

This country is an absolute shambles.

I need information of who to contact about my unhappy experience of British roads and demand compensation.
