Thank you for contacting Highways England regarding the flooding.
We are aware of the disruption the flooding has caused, and our contractor has been investigating the reasons why the pump did not work as it should have.
An intermittent fault with wiring in the terminal box has been identified as the probable cause and a fix has now been made. This fault appeared to cause the failure of the pumps to engage.
Although tests show the pump is now working correctly, in order to ensure there are no future recurrences of the failure, we will be arranging to replace the junction box and any older wiring as a priority.
Thank you again for your report. Kind Regards Highways England
