Closure of A30 Bullington Lane at A34/A303 junction

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 23:08, Wed 30 June 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2830863.

Road closure for access to Sutton Scotney is not signposted until the junction is reached. For traffic heading west on M3 and A303 and wishing to exit at Sutton Scotney there is no warning of this closure. It means traffic has to follow diversion back up the A303 towards Basingstoke. Early warning of this exit closure at Basingstoke M3 junction 7 would allow traffic to find alternative route to Sutton Scotney. I also noticed no warning of the closure at the south end of Bullington Lane in Sutton Scotney. Traffic heading north up this road would come to the dead end without warning.

  • Thank you raising this issue. I've spoken to Delivery Manager to confirm that we don't place advanced warning signs here as we're trying to avoid traffic coming off early and going through Sutton Scotney due to complaints.

Therefore we won't provide advanced warning signs.

    Kind regards Highways England
