Multiple dangerous craters on approach to traffic lights, A120 jn with M11

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 12:08, Thursday 24 June 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

This site has been "repaired" many times, but the 3 craters that have been repeatedly filled have become exposed again, and the top surface has spread up the left hand crash barrier. It is very dangerous, as the only ways to avoid the area are to 1) swerve towards the crash barrier; or 2) swerve into fast moving traffic in the middle lane. Embarassingly, there is a highways maintenance depot in visible range of this location, so someone there must know of this continuing and now dangerous situation.

  • Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for contacting us via Fix My Street on 24 June 2021 about potholes at the A120/M11 junction.

I appreciate you taking the time to report this. I’ve passed your observations to our maintenance team who are aware of the issue.

One of our local inspectors has raised the job for the section to be patched again and will continue to monitor on a regular basis.

Potholes can be hazardous and we have processes in place to ensure they are made safe quickly. We also carry out frequent safety inspections where potholes and other defects are recorded. We then carry out repairs prioritising the most serious.

Thank you again for contacting us. If you need any further information about this, please feel free to contact me.

    Kind regards Highways England
