No give way sign

Reported via mobile in the Sign issue category anonymously at 21:24, Sunday 20 June 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

This junction has not got a give way sign . It is very dangerous late at night as there is no lighting . If you come up to this junction not realising it’s a roundabout late at night you have to brake quickly and I’ve seen this happen a lot of times . And also I doesn’t help when you have your workmen sitting in there vehicles at the junction with there headlights on so you can’t see if any traffic is coming from the right and you have to complete stop because of the glare of there lights. I use this junction at midnight 5days a week every other week . You have got a give way sign at north bound junction so why not this one.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting Highways England regarding no give signs on the spur road approaching the roundabout on the M23, Junction 9.

Having passed this onto our Asset Team, they have provided following feedback. Currently there are 3 signs on the approach to the roundabout on the Spur Road, a ½ mile Advance directional sign, Reduce speed warning sign showing roundabout at approximately 400yds and a further Advanced directional sign, these all indicate a roundabout ahead.

At the roundabout itself there are no give way signs as this is not a requirement at roundabouts. The advisory Give Way line is in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016, Chapter 5, Part 6 Roundabouts
