Dead deer

Reported via desktop in the Dead animals (NH) category anonymously at 21:36, Mon 14 June 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2791928.

Another dead deer on the roadside A12 slip road to Capel and Bentley. This is the second report this month, it is distressing to see the animals on the side of the road. Can “beware of Deer” signs be erected on this road so that drivers can be made aware?

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting Highways England.

I appreciate how distressing it can be for our customers to see animal remains lying by the side of the road. We routinely remove such remains when they are found in the live carriageway and always endeavour to repatriate pets if their owners can be identified through microchip implant technology. Animal remains that lie further away from the carriageway itself are more difficult to routinely locate. Such carcasses are therefore only ordinarily removed if they present an ancillary hazard, or danger to public health
