Fly tipping on old A458 outside of Seven Stars Inn
Reported via desktop in the Flytipping (NH) category anonymously at 07:07, Fri 11 June 2021
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later
Fidges and tyres tipped on old part of A458 that is under your control/ownership opposite the bus stand and in front of the Halfway House Inn and Seven Stars Inn. Has been reported to police, and multiple council departments. Has been there for nearly a month now. Also, grass along the verge of the road in the same area to where it joins Marche lane is blocking the view of the A458 making it difficult/dangerous for cars to pull out.
Fly tipping remains and has possibly been added to, grass has now reached point where some cars have to pull out blind or onto approaching traffic to see if road is clear

Thank you for your patience whilst we looked into your report. The fly tipping you refer to is the responsibility of the Local Authority and they will need to programme to come and collect this. I advise you contact them again to look into this. We have undertaken our annual grass cutting in this area but unfortunately, due to adverse there are still areas that need to be cut. We will plan revisit in the coming weeks to cut this but unfortunately, I don't have a confirmed date yet. If you require any further update on this issue our Customer Contact Centre is available 24 hours a day at: • 0300 123 5000

The fly-tipping is not the responsibility of the Local authority as they are not responsible for highways roads (main roads), C roads and non-major roads etc are under Council control, not the A458 which is under your control and the fly-tipping is on. All the council is legally required to do is to notify you of this tipping which they have done, as have I. Your drivers park on a regular basis in the Halfway House inn car park, and if each of them took 1 piece of rubbish away each visit, it would be gone in a few days to a week at most. I also see that work is planned in this area for the 28th of this month when the rubbish could be cleared. I fear that given the length of time it has been there, more rubbish will be added which would become very visible to people driving past on the A458, and what could be easily cleared will cause questions to be asked by those higher up why it has not been despite being reported and despite highways, vehicles frequently stopping alongside it for there "tea breaks"
