  • Dear Mr Whittle

Thank you for contacting us via Fix My Street on 31 May 2021 regarding the litter close to the A14. I appreciate you taking the time to report this.

We, Highways England, are not responsible for picking litter on the A14. Under the Environmental Protection Act 1991, East Cambridgeshire District Council are the responsible authority. I believe you have already contacted them via Fix My Street.

To help, we’re working with them to ensure litter picking is better co-ordinated with other routine maintenance work on our road network. By doing so, we aim to minimise disruption to those using our roads, reduce costs and importantly, ensure safety standards for those picking the litter are met.

Thank you again for contacting us.

    Kind regards Highways England
