Signs missing on A5 at A453 junction

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue category anonymously at 17:07, Wednesday 26 May 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

On the A5 eastbound, approaching A453 junction, there are no advance signs for the junction at ½ mile or 1 mile. The only sign is at the junction, which is far too late for a driver to slow down and leave the A5.

Updates

  • Thank you for your patience whilst we looked into your report. We are not sure why there is no Advanced Signs (ADS) for the junction, normally you would expect an ADS sign at least at ½ mile before the junction.

There is ADS signs on westbound carriageway but not the eastbound.

Unfortunately, it will be difficult to obtain funding to install an ADS given there has been only 1 serious injury collision in last 5 years, so won’t justify a safety improvement.
