Huge pothole on the inside lane completely unavoidable

Reported via mobile in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 22:12, Sun 23 May 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2744516.

This pothole has damaged my alloy wheel. In the dark you can’t see it but in the daylight you can. It is huge about 30cm wide and 60cm long. When it’s dark and raining it’s unavoidable and very dangerous. It is just before the exit slip road to the m25 south mimms junction 1 A1m heading towards London. This is going to cause an accident if someone has a blowout.

Updates

  • Similar problem on 6 June 2021 with instant deflation of the near side front tyre which split. As it was a "run flat" tyre I was able to continue slowly to Galley Lane Barnet, the first exit off the A1M.

  • It’s still there. I drive down the a1m everyday for work. It’s still there and it’s huge. Totally unacceptable on a motorway that it hasn’t been fixed. An accident waiting to happen.
