Near side lane exit from the west side of the roundabout

Reported via desktop in the Roadworks category anonymously at 09:25, Sunday 23 May 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

Travelling west on the A45 using the nearside lane traveling around the new roundabout at 25mph I found that the exit from the roundabout had an inverse camber and the final part of the turn was tight. This pushed me towards the outer lane and I received a sharp blast on the horn from an overtaking car. If this happens to a car at 25mph I dread to think what will happen to somebody traveling faster or a heavy vehicle . I think you should carry out some tests to asses the corner before the roadworks are completed

Updates

  • Firstly whoever designed these exits needs to try it with a HGV. You CANNOT make those turns in one lane.

Secondly, whichever clown decided to cone off the road and shut part of the A45 on 4 July needs to be fired. NO ONE WAS WORKING IN THAT AREA. NO ONE. There were three vehicles holding the road shut (cone machine, 3.5t pickup and a small Berlingo-sized van) BUT NO WORKERS.

No wonder this fiasco STILL isn't finished. I hope you all get fined for incompetence.

  • Coming off the new round about travelling west on the A45 towards Wellingborough, I found myself careening very close to the concrete barrier on my right due to being pushed over by an articulated vehicle, which in his defence he was trying to avoid the high kerbing on his nearside. I did indicate with my car horn that I was not happy with his antics, he then wound his window down and indicated my wife does the same, he asked us to follow him to the next layby where we had a chat, as a fellow class 1 driver I have not had a chance to use the road yet, anyway I did turn around and go back as discussed with the other driver and went back to the round about and exited in the lane he was in to find in horror that the kerbing has already been 'clipped' by a few artics. May i suggest that while repairs are still being done that this particular corner is re-assessed and at least 1 meter or 1.5 meter be shaved off to allow safe passage for our larger vehicles and the cars on the other side of these articulated vehicles before an unnecessary accident occurs. your attention to this matter would be appreciated

  • On sunday 3rd October at approx 12.15 my sisters light blue Leyland DAF horsebox was hit by a black car cutting in front of her going right towards the A45 towards Raunds whilst my sisters was going on the A6 towards Irthlingborough from the A6 Bedford road. We were unable to get the registration of the black vehicle as we had x2 very upset horses on board. Is there any CCTV footage at this roundabout please? We have been given an incident number by the police but if we cannot obtain the registration of the black vehicle we will have to go through our own insurance to have the damaged lorry fixed which is unfair when it wasn't my sisters fault. Did anyone see anything ??
