Missing road markings

Reported via desktop in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 19:51, Sun 9 May 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

The road here (exactly on my marker) goes from 2 lanes down to one with NO prior warning which is extremely dangerous

Why are there no signs before warning about the lanes merging or any merging arrows painted on the road?

Very dangerous and should be improved!

  • Thank you for for taking the time to share your concerns regarding your concerns with the lane merging at this location.

We've checked collision data and in last 5 years of available data (between 01/01/2015 to 30/06/2020), there was only 1 slight personal injury collision in this period on this part of the slip road linking the M5 south and north slips with the M4 westbound. This suggests that there is no particular collision problem at this section of the Almondsbury Interchange which would require an urgent intervention.

We can look at the issues you raise when this section of the network is due for resurfacing. This is usually the best time to review existing road markings provisions and propose changes is necessary and beneficial.
