Junction being blocked

Reported via mobile in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 22:33, Thu 6 May 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2711101.

This junction needs crosshatching or a ‘keep clear’ marking on the road. Vehicles consistently block the junction meaning you can’t get out of Netherne Drive safely even when the lights are green.

Updates

  • Traffic lights are not phased properly for vehicles turning right from Brighton Rd into Netherne Drive. On numerous occasions vehicles are having to wait for between 6-10 changes of lights on main A23 before the lights go green to allow a right hand turn into Netherne Drive. Drivers are ignoring traffic signals as they have to wait an unnecessarily long time which compromises everyone’s safety.

  • Traffic lights are not phasing correctly. Often turning from green->amber-> red and back again twice on the approach on Southbound carriage way, spending only a small number of seconds on each

  • Traffic signals to turn right from Brighton Road to Netherne are not phased correctly and not turning green. Traffic going straight turned red and then immediately back to green with no switch to allow the traffic turning right to proceed.

  • Traffic lights are still not phasing properly at certain times of day (currently 7pm) turning right onto Netherne Drive from A23. Traffic having to turn back onto A23 or turn on a red light. Very dangerous.
