Litter on verges

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2708211.

This is a major problem area for litter. You are in breach of your statutory duty under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (EPA) for failing to keep the highway clear of litter. You have 28 days to clear it as per the Litter Code of Practice (COP), failing which I shall make an application to the Magistrates Court under the EPA to force you to comply with your statutory duty.

  • Thank you for your patience whilst we inspected the area of concern for litter in relation to your report. We can confirm that the M60 J3 and slip roads have been picked for litter on the 10 May. We hope that you see the improvement. It was necessary to book road closures and these take time to arrange and comes with many considerations.
