  • Thank you for contacting Highways England.

As you're aware, we recently carried out vegetation clearance on the M5 embankments to restore open grassland habitats. This was more extensive than our usual yearly vegetation cut and has exposed a large amount of litter that had been previously hidden by the brambles.

Our inspection team are now assessing this section of the M5 and will highlight the areas where litter is most problematic. We’ll then organise specific litter collections in these areas, which should be completed by the end of May.

    Kind regards Highways England
