Southwick tunnel closures

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2642050.

When are you going to stop closing or partially closing this tunnel .You appear unable to complete works in a timely manner. It is now beyond a joke. Complete what you need to do and go somewhere else.

  • Thank you for contacting Highways England about the ongoing CCTV and tunnel signage replacement and refurbishment works at Southwick Tunnel and please accept our apologies that these works have become protracted, in part due to current pandemic where we've experienced issue with staffing levels and delays in obtaining parts and equipment.

    We are working hard to ensure that the scheme completes as soon as possible, and are currently investigating an issue with concrete bases that are too weak. Once these investigations are complete and mitigation works planned we will be able to resume our works programme.
