Illegible Direction Arrows

Reported via desktop in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 16:31, Wed 24 March 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2631319.

The exit slip road splits into three lanes on approach to the island. The Middle and Right hand lane have right arrows, to direct two lanes of traffic around the island. This is because there are two exits (A441 Exit 3, then Services Exit 4).

This is not common, and a lot of drivers are unaware of the fourth exit onto the services. Therefore they take the right hand lane and merge into the left lane as they move around the island. This is not nessesary as the A441 has two lanes to exit onto.

I have witnessed many collisions and have been involved in a near miss myself.

To correct the issue the road markings could be repainted to clearly display that two lanes of traffic are being directed around the roundabout and make it clear that the middle lane is for turning 'right'.
