Reported via desktop in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 20:52, Tue 16 March 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2613708.

There are many potholes and lumps missing out of the road surface just past the traffic lights controlling traffic turning off the M1 J5 Slip North going onto the longabout and turning left onto A41 South. No vehicle can avoid these damaging potholes and a motorbike will have trouble in the wet.

  • Still NO action on fixing these strings of potholes and ruts in the tarmac. Highways England should be ashamed of this performance, months of complaints and nothing done. Please HE, sort this mess out now in the coming days or update these reports to say why you cannot, or who should be repairing this area!!

  • The potholes leading up to the junction in the left lane between Edgware and Watford are many and getting worse. There is a huge one on the left lane of the ramp. Please fix, this is dangerous and almost damaged my car.

  • Please re-direct all fault reports on this long standing serious road surface problem on the M1 J5 North offslip to Berrygrove Interchange to Hertfordshire Highways, not Highways England as their responsibilities end at the top of this slip road before the traffic lights. See this link to report: https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/ services/ highways-roads-and-pavements/ report-a-problem/ report-a-highway-fault/ road-or-cycle-path/ road-or-cycle-path.aspx Wished Highways England had told me that months ago.

  • I have raised fault 401002060090 with HCC, but their fault reporting system has faults saying not their responsibility! I have asked in my fault report that HCC liaise with Highways England to agree responsibility. Lets see!

  • Try associating with Herts Highways fault reports:- 401002057607 and 401002057313 This area is clearly the responsibility of a Highways Agency and as it is NOT Highways England, then as a Principal Road it can only be Hertfordshire Highways. Do not let HCC fob anyone off with the fault is on Private Land! or must be Watford Council etc. The annoying thing is that on Monday night 14/06 the A41 under this same location Berrygrove Roundabout was closed for extensive road repairs, typical that Herts Highways could not roll this fault into the other repairs that they were doing that night!

  • Many blocked drains causing large amounts of standing water and puddles. Vehicles aqua planing. Some vehicles taking late avoidance tactics therefore only a matter of time before a serious accident unless drains are unblocked.
