Excessive noise at night, adjacent to house

Reported via mobile in the Roadworks (NH) category anonymously at 00:08, Mon 22 February 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

Moderated by National Highways at 17:43, Thursday 7 July 2022

Between 21:30-03:30 on three consecutive nights, 17/2/21 - 19/2/21 incl, work was being carried out to the surface course within a lane closure on the Port of Felixstowe Road, A14, adjacent to our property. Excessive noise was being emitted from a thermal Lance heating the surface course, together with other equipment. The noise was in excess of the daytime noise, affecting the sleep of all those within our house. Clearly not satisfactory and not the first time this type of inconvenience has happened either. I checked with our Local Authority and they stated that no Section 61 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 application has been made. So it appears Highways England and their contractor are in breach of this Act. Please explain how the oversight has occured, how it will be remedied and how in future similar work will be carried out with full consideration to ourselves.
