Bank completely cover in litter.

Reported via desktop in the Flytipping (NH) category anonymously at 14:06, Sun 21 February 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2561461.

Litter has been on the bank between the a1 the footpath has been present for the last couple of years. Can you please advise who is responsible for clean this up? The is a fence preventing anyone going on to the bank so I assume that the land is maintained by the road maintenance company who are allowing Hertfordshire to become a land fill site.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting Highways England. Unfortunately litter on A roads and in their laybys are the responsibility of the Local Authority and would need to be reported to them. The highways inspectors do monitor the state of the roads and try to inform the relevant Local Authority but have no power to instruct them to collect anything. Please contact the Local Authority for any updates. Kind regards Highways England

State changed to: not the council's responsibility
